I have a 1phone 14 pro max. I placed it on my Zhyium Smooth 4. The lenses made the phone very top heavy and wouild not balance. Back to using my Sony a7lll. The iphone did a pretty good job. The colors wee off and the sharpness is lacking. Not sure if the viewer looking at a listing would care.

Mike, great video, thanks. I just purchased a used but hardly used Benro 3xm. Trying to figure the balancing but that is off subject. I use my Sony for real estate photography and have been getting requests for videos. I am 80 and I know it will be a challange to learn video. I noticed my video settings had changed some settings for photography. WB. Focusing not sure what else yet. I did place my setting for video in S1. I subscribed to your channel some time ago and fouind them to be very usful and easy to understand.

I've started my real estate photography when your channel was really young and there was like 5 videos. I'm still here, after a few years and every time i found a new value. Thanks Mike!

I've gone to the paid version for the expanded music options. I usually make a custom video for my client then use one of their Reel templates for personal advertising.

thank for the videos, i am learning a lot from them. I see that you shoot most of the time at 16 mm. Someone in other video mentioned that clients do not like the exaggerated view, as makes the room´s size unrealistic and therefore uses a 20 mm. Have you had that problem with clients? thx

thank you for your video. It would interest me the focal length you were using at the different rooms, you didn´t mention that. I am about to start with this type of photography and i am a bit unsure about the lens i should buy, since ultra wide gives distortion many times. I heard at 20 mm you do not get distortion but sometimes the room is too small that cannot capture it at 20 mm and have to go wider? Thank for your time to answer!

Nice job! Another way would be to track the camera, and project the exterior onto 3D geometry. The masking could be done with no or very few keyframes if you parent the mask layers to a 2D tracker or a Mocha track. Thanks for the great videos!

In my opinion, it is about delivering a high quality video and there is no way PP1 will ever be as good as SLOG3. I use Davinci so I have color grade presets set up in Powergrade folder so everytime I create a new project they are available. Too simple. You are making minor tweaks on PP1 and I am doing same with SLOG3 which I would bet that will always look better than PP1. Sorry I think you are giving out some pretty cruddy advice.

It would be interested to show these photos to non photography peeps and see what would be most preferred. I might be too novice into photography, but until you showed the drawn backs of the Auto-HDR photos, I picked them as most eye pleasant in the side to side comparison

After 2 years of shooting in SLOG3, I finally threw in the towel a few weeks ago. The amount of time required to get it "just right" in post was insane. Now I shoot in PP off, NT with a few tweaks (highlights/shadows -2, saturation +2). Works like a charm!

Would you say that a Mini 4 Pro can do a professional job for real state shooting in may/2024?

I shoot PP8 SLOG3 with A7siii i think it’s really not much more work. As long as you overexpose and either shoot 640 or 12800 ISO. I typically use the Gerald Undone LUT and turn down contrast. I also find it way better color when shooting people with their skin tone.

I stopped using my A7S3 and now use my iPhone 15 Pro Max with the Blackmagic App. The dynamic range is fantastic, have complete control with the blackmagic app and I have to say blows away the A7S3 standard profile and log profiles with dynamic range. I mount it on my DJI Ronin RS3 so it looks more professional.....but the outcome is amazing.

I have a question about this, is there a way to just take the pictures and stitch them afterwards? the matter port app is creating the tour on the go, but I couldn't log in the app a while a go and I couldn't finish the tour, I could have just take the pictures with the insta app, but I don't know if this is a viable workflow in case this happens again

Seems pretty quick and easy to just drop a LUT.

Our work life balance is essential and so is decompression time. I get home after doing 3-4 long shoots with add-ons, it's a lot of work just sifting through what's going to the editor(s). That's time consuming enough, with uploading everything to their Dropbox, etc. I don't enjoy editing in the least. It's tedious and boring and I'm never going to be as good as my editors who do this every day, and our brand is everything in this business. We need excellent results every time to maintain our clients and to get new ones. We can't do that with subpar results because our egos say we're as good as any editor. No, we're not! Not to mention the aggravation of dealing with perhaps thee worst knucklehead motorists in the country and the awful road conditions here in Hampton Roads VA. I just want to move to the Outer Banks or back to Upstate NY, Cooperstown where my younger son was born or even Pennsylvania where my older son was born. I really miss the nice, easy going pace of these places. Anyway, excellent video, great work as always.

Great video. Curious if you might have edited a (exact) complete video using both techniques and timing each so that you might determine a % time increased to using the LOG process (shoot & edit) and translating that to costs? Maybe then you could charge a premium "price bump" to offer that extra if the client wants it. I am curious in your experience what the time increase was using the LOG technique. If not that might be a great video to make. Breaking it down to numbers.

I dont know man, but I love shooting my RE videos in CLog3. I did the switch like 3 properties ago and man... I do see the difference brother! Day and night, lol. I mean, It does add maybe 5 minutes of tweaking on the turnaround but I don't mind bc the pay off is so big. Maybe SLog and CLog aren't as closely regarded as I thought. IDK, subjective, Amirite? 🤷🏻‍♂

I tried the magmod. It works great as long as there are no ceiling fans or light fixtures. It makes really harsh shadows with ceiling fans due to the light coming out of the sides of the magmod. It works great though in rooms without those items.

Log is worth it. I’d consider shooting 60fps so you can lower your shutter speed or shooting iso 12800 and closing your aperture for a sharper image. 120fps also has a 1.1 crop, taking 16mm to 17.6mm. In my opinion, that is too tight. I choose to shoot 12mm to 16mm on my wide shots. Thanks for the video, mate👊

This is a nice comparison. I’m not sure there’s enough difference to justify the extra time for log. The lighting in every room will probably be different and exterior lighting conditions will also play a role in the window view. I’d probably stick with the standard profile unless the realtor was willing to pay extra money for log, which most wouldn’t. The best case scenario would be to video the interior on an overcast day or early or late in the day, which would surely create a mess with scheduling. Sometimes we just have to do the best we can, within reason, with what we have to work with. Nice video.

Log or bust

I think anyone who's able to do RE photography to a high standard can figure out how to expose when shooting log. It's easy using a histogram. As for a complicated workflow in post - you can simply use the manufacturers technical LUT to change it from log to rec709 - it takes no time. I'm a bit confused by the debate to be honest... I think 99% of the RE video guys are shooting log, along with the rest of the film and video industry.

Couple of things to bear in mind. Some interiors are dark - this combined with a bright day outside can make dealing with windows challenging. 2 not all cameras can use high frame rates to the extent of using a shutter speed of 1/250 .
